Fairy Godmother’s Spa Cloth is knit sideways, creating a pampering and luxuriant spa cloth. The pattern is named after a vintage lace stitch pattern, Godmother’s Edging. This is a good beginning lace project and makes a lovely gift.
Skills Needed: Yarn overs, knitting two stitches together, slipping stitches.
Size: Approximately 7 ¾ x 8 ½ inches [19.7 x 21.6 cm].
Yarn: 1 skein Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima Fine (Sport/5 ply; 100% Pima Cotton; 136.7 yds/50 grams) in one color or ½ skein each of two colors.
Needles: Circular or straight needles US size 4 [3.5 mm] or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 22 sts and 44 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in garter stitch. Gauge is not critically important.
If substituting yarns, consider using the largest size needle called for on the ball band.
If using more than one color, add new color in on row 2 of pattern repeat.
