And we have color in the Colorwork Tee! I’m at a place in the design where I can just start working from the needles (as opposed to drawing out a chart first). I am excited to be working with Bronze again as well as to be adding in some Marine. Unfortunately last weekend I got ahead of myself and divided for sleeves too early, so a lot of time was spent placing stitches back on the needles.

My younger son claimed this green Wayfarer The Wayfarer Hat as his own. I think it fits his style…

Jen finished her hat and posted this pic on her Ravelry page. Love this picture!

Also over the weekend, DH and I went to the Coast and the weather was perfect for hiking and photography. Here is one picture of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. More pictures will follow in a future post.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by! I hope you have a joyful week!!!
It has been a great first day of the Columbia Gorge Fiber Festival! This morning I picked up my good friend, fellow designer M.E. Greene, Olive Knits, and we road tripped it to The Dalles, Oregon. This is just a quick post to let you in on the fun, and then I’ll post a full report sometime later. I hope you’ll enjoy this peek at this wonderful event!
Here is the beautiful venue as we arrived:

And inside:

Right away we found a place to knit. This is Marie working on her newest design:

And look at the view!

The fabulous Marketplace, which I can’t wait to explore more tomorrow:

Lovely grounds:

And finally, a Burgerville for dinner. I was thrilled when we drove into town and saw this. Burgerville, a Northwest classic!

Sweet potato fries. Perfection!
Tomorrow, two classes with Norah Gaughan, shopping in the Marketplace, a banquet featuring Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, and time to visit with new and old friends!
This week my sisters and I took a short jaunt to the Metolius River. It is a stunning, beautiful river. We were surprised at the volume of water rushing by, and the fall colors were glorious. I can’t wait to go back sometime and explore the area more fully.
The surrounding area was quiet and peaceful. It would be a great place to knit! Not to mention fish, bike, hike, read…
I love how the sunlight filters through the water.
And these are the Metolius River Mitts:
They are so named as this colorway with its beautiful blues, greens, ginger, gold and browns made me think of sunlight filtering through water to the river rock below:
Finally, here they are worked in yet another colorway, Rusted. This picture was taken before the thumb was completed.
This pattern is one of my favorites because it looks great in a variety of sock yarns and works up quickly on size 5 needles. If you are looking for a pattern for a special skein of sock yarn, this could be it.
Thanks for joining me in this look at the Metolius – the river and the mitts!
