Weekly Photo Challenge: Mirror

mirror (1024x809)

This week’s challenge:

This week, show us a mirror. You can take this photo challenge literally, and find reflections in mirrors, or in the stillness of a natural body of water. Live in an urban area? Some skyscrapers are beautifully reflective of the cityscape around them. Or, use this challenge to take a photo of yourself in the mirror. Self-documentation is important, especially for those of us who are usually behind the lens. Enjoy!  The Daily Post ~Jen H.

This mirrored shot, taken in Sisters, Oregon, takes me to autumn, with its shirt-sleeve days and crisp, cool evenings, apple cider, pumpkin patches, crunchy leaves, football, and beautiful, warm, golden light. Ah, Autumn, I do love you!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fun!

Surfing Dog

This was a fun day! When we went to Maui for our 30th anniversary, my favorite activity was an outrigger canoe trip. It was a leisurely paddle around the bay…we saw sea turtles, my husband dived in and swam around with them…and this cute little surfing dog and his owner came up to us on their board. An amazingly fun day, fun trip, fun moment – and treasured memory.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Narrow

When I saw this week’s challenge, I thought immediately of Depoe Bay, locally known as “The World’s Smallest Harbor.” It’s fascinating to watch fishing boats maneuver through the narrow channel.

Little Marina 3 (1280x913)

The Challenge:

Show us the detail that made a good experience a truly transcendent one —

~Michelle W.  The Daily Post

One November day while wandering near Cascade Locks, the light was perfect and the views divine. The Bridge of the Gods was breathtaking, as were the locks, to say nothing of the spectacular fall color. When it was nearly time to leave, I came upon a tiny marina. Not only was finding this marina a treasure, but the serene calm of the water with its beautiful reflective quality was the detail that made my heart sing.

Sea Kelp and Sea Foam (2) (1024x769)
Sea Kelp & Sea Foam

There is so much color, light, and reflection to be seen in a close-up view of sea kelp, ocean bubbles, and sand.  I never tire of the ever-changing ocean landscape, and up close I find it even more intriguing.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Opposites

The challenge:

This week, make two opposing elements come together (or clash in dissonance) in one photo….show how opposites can tell a story about people, places, or objects.   Ben Huberman ~ The Daily Post

Here is my entry for this week’s photo challenge. The smooth plane of water is the perfect foil for the highly textured flower, and the colors, nearly opposite, complete the contrast.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Partners

This week, share an image of partners. A pair, a trio, a sextet; people, buildings, plants — whatever you choose to shoot, give us subjects that are in tune with one another.

Also with Daisy on porch (4)

Daisy decided to hang out with us on a recent photo shoot for the Willamette Valley Tee. The pictures of these two together are some of my favorites from that afternoon. The special bond that they share is palpable and unmistakable, and it is one of those simple things in life that brings joy in seeing it.
